Now, we all (if not, most of us) hate the Medusa.

Weapons & Equip - Countering the Medusa Death Stare (2)

Especially her death stare that makes you turn into stone. There has been a few recent suggestions saying to reduce it.

But, why reduce it, when you can counter it?

I propose 2 options:

1. 3 new accessories:

Packed Glass Shard
(Placeholder for sprite)
Accessory
Equipable
Immunity to Medusa's Stare
Crafted by:
10 Marble
10 Glass
@ a Furnace

Obsidian Mirror Shield

Weapons & Equip - Countering the Medusa Death Stare (3)

Accessory
Equipable
2 Defense
Immunity to Medusa's stare, knockback and On Fire!
Crafted by:
1 Packed Glass Shard
1 Obsidian Shield
@ a Tinkers' Workshop

Ankh Mirror Shield

Weapons & Equip - Countering the Medusa Death Stare (4)

Accessory
Equipable
4 Defense
Immunity to most debuffs, knockback and Medusa's death stare
Crafted by:
1 Packed Glass Shard
1 Ankh Shield
@ a Tinkers' Workshop

or...

2. A potion

Crag Potion
(Placeholder for sprite)
Consumable
Grants immunity from Medusa's stare
Crafted by:
1 Water Bottle
5 Stone Blocks
1 Blinkroot
@ an Alchemy Station
Lasts for 5 minutes

Feedback is welcome!

Do not quite see the point in this when she is the only one that can turn you into stone. The other debuffs that are covered by the various components of the Ankh and Ankh Sheild have more than just one mob that inflicts those debuffs. If anything, add the stone immunity to the Blindfold and have it carry over through the rest of the chain that is already present.

I like the option of having accessibility to both the potion and mirror shields because that means freedom of choice for players. I know some would prefer to use an accessory slot for something else that's not a Shield accessory, so the potion would give them the choice to use another accessory while being immune to Medusa's petrification. The same could be same for vice-versa.

How about this.
turn your neck roughly 180 degrees
*KRAK*
Works for me.

I like the mirror shield, but I think if they just added an extra bonus to the blindfold acc that completely negates her petrify, that would be a little more efficient. The range still needs to be nerfed on her stare though

But then aren't we vulnerable to the hospital bill?

Why not make Blindfolds actually have another use, being a counter to Medusa... sadly, the Ankh Charm wouldn't gain the ability...

well, at least we should still have a Mirror Shield, in case you don't want to be blindfolded.

Why not have that effect continue down the chain of tinkering? There is not anything wrong with that. Heck, makes sense as once you have the Ankh Shield that it could be implied that your character simply holds it in front of their eyes. Actually... that is an idea. Have the stone immunity apply to shields too!

Well, if Terraria had a better Visibility system, Shields would actually block sight in front of the character, which means you don't see much other than the ground you walk on.
