Japanese anime fans like using all kinds of terms to describe the general behavior of their favorite characters, most of all the -dere types, such as kuudere, tsundere, and dandere. A slightly more niche -dere type is the himedere type, describing a wannabe princess with an inflated self of importance.

A classic himedere is secretly insecure and may have abandonment issues, leading that character to act like royalty and demand that everyone obey her. Such characters enjoy authority and being showered with praise and affection, and they might act that way toward a love interest. Plenty of anime characters, usually female ones, act like that, and others are partial himederes who love being the queen bee of any social circle or school.

The World God Only Knows stars a smart, calculating male lead named Keima who absolutely loves video games, including datings sims. Then, with the spirit hunter Elsie backing him up, Keima tried to fix the hearts of the girls around him and use dating sims as a reference.
One such "target" was Mio Aoyama, a standoffish blonde girl who came from a rich family. More recently, Mio lost her family wealth, but as a himedere, she still wants everyone to adore her as a rich, beautiful girl who has it all. She even lost her butler, but won't dare tell anyone that.

In Demon Slayer's world, most demons are conceited and co*cky, having shed their human weakness to gain demonic power, such as blood arts. But even by demon standards, the beautiful and deadly Daki is a true himedere, and she loves being the entertainment district's star princess.
Daki had it rough growing up in poverty, and then she nearly burned to death. Now she compensates with her demonic power and fame, but it's all a fragile facade. Once Tengen Uzui hacked off her head, Daki cried her eyes out, her himedere persona shattered for good.
8 Mary Saotome Enjoyed Making Ryota Her Housepet

In Kakegurui, students at the elite Hyakkou school gamble against one another with vast sums of money, and anyone who sinks into debt becomes a housepet, a highly demeaning title to have. Early on, the blonde Mary Saotome put Ryota Suzui into debt and took full advantage of that.

Mary immediately acted like a conceited princess around the dandere Ryota, gleefully bossing him around and even using him as a footrest. Even after Yumeko later humbled her, Mary kept up her arrogant streak and now aims to challenge the student council, too.
7 Minerva Orland Wants To Be The Strongest

Members of the Fairy Tail guild are typically cooperative and friendly people, but the Sabertooth guild is very different. In the Grand Magic Games tournament in Fairy Tail, Sabertooth's members were introduced as antagonistic bullies, most of all Minerva Orland.
Minerva has himedere tendencies with her vain, arrogant desire to always be the strongest. She's more loyal to herself than to any guild, and loves flaunting her superiority. All this is to compensate for her thuggish father Jiemma's poor treatment of her in her girlhood.
6 Ayaka Yukihiro Is A Himedere/Ojou-Sama Cross
Mahou Sensei Negima!
The blonde Ayaka Yukihiro is both a himedere and an ojou-sama anime character in Mahou Sensei Negima!. She blurs these two archetypes with her conceited, lofty behavior and her ultra-wealthy background, such as showing off her family jet and private island.

Ayaka absolutely dotes on her young teacher Negi and will do anything he asks, but around her classmates, it's the reverse. Ayaka loves to assert her role as class representative and give orders to everyone around her, often scolding them for goofing off or getting bad grades so often.
5 Kerori Crocell Became The Beast Princess
Welcome To Demon School, Iruma-Kun!
Kerori Crocell, also spelled Keroli, was introduced as a famous demidol, or pop idol, in Welcome to Demon School, Iruma-Kun!. For a time, her secret identity as a pop star defined her character arc, but after training in Season 3, Kerori became a true himedere.
Kerori and Caim both trained hard to command animals, and Kerori smugly became queen of the jungle during the Harvest Festival. She leaned completely into that role, complete with a haughty attitude, a throne, and a fairy tale-like turqoise gown with white fur trim and heels.
4 Azazel Ameri Is A Nicer Kind Of Himedere
Welcome To Demon School, Iruma-Kun!
Welcome to Demon School, Iruma-Kun! actually has a second himedere-style character, except Azazel Ameri is much subtler about it. While Kerori is the beast princess, Azazel Ameri is the student council president at Babyls, and this dignified demon girl takes the role very seriously.

Ameri is strict, good at giving orders, and is focused on decorum at all times. She also thinks highly of herself, but she's not totally conceited. Ameri has her kind side as well, being Iruma's good friend and admirer while also hoping she can score a shojo-style romance with him.
3 Dio Brando Is A Rare Male Himedere
JoJo's Bizarre Adventure
Most himedere anime characters are girls, but a few boys also fit this archetype, with Dio Brando being an example from JoJo's Bizarre Adventure. Dio fits the himedere archetype surprisingly well, starting with his insecurities about his miserable childhood and his burning desire to stand out.
Dio became highly conceited, speaking as "I, Dio," and he wanted to rule all of England and later, the entire world. As a himedere, Dio started wearing fancy clothes, had a castle for his home base, and reacted with panic and rage anytime things didn't go his way in the battle with Jonathan Joestar.
2 The Original Katarina Claes Was A Himedere Brat

In the main My Next Life as a Villainess story, the reborn Katarina Claes was a total deredere and bakadere, hence her nickname Bakarina. The original character, who appeared briefly in Episode 1, was a classic otome villainess and a serious himedere.
That version of Katarina was a bratty himedere and a typical spoiled rich kid, and she wasn't afraid to throw tantrums in front of her maids. She was picky, demanding, and self-centered, so it's no wonder she was supposed to grow up to be an otome villainess bully.

Erina Nakiri is both a total tsundere and a himedere in Food Wars!. She checks of all the boxes, having abandonment issues concerning her mother and "daddy issues" regarding her father Azami Nakiri, so Erina is desperate to impress everyone and act important to compensate.
Erina is the queen bee of Totsuki, a conceited and lofty girl who loves being widely admired and respected. When she's in a good mood or looking down on someone, she will even picture herself in a frilly gown, sitting on a throne while a crown rests on her head.
